Requirements

Eligible entries must have all fields completed, including the acceptance of the Terms & Conditions. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., CST on December 1, 2018.

Official Rules — Effective June 28, 2018

Please read these rules before entering the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies Midwest Review writing contest. By registering for the contest, you agree to be bound by these rules and that you satisfy all eligibility and entry requirements.

Eligibility

Only legal United States residents are eligible. You must be 18 years or older to enter. Entries are limited to one per person. Employees and agents of University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies and their immediate family members are not eligible to win. The Contest is void where prohibited.

How to Enter

To enter the Contest, you must complete the online entry form. Entries must be received by 11:59pm Central Time on December 1, 2018. Entries are limited to one per person.

Entry Requirements

By entering the Contest, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies Rules and Terms & Conditions. University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any Entry for any reason, including for any violation of these Official Rules.

Awarding Winners

One winner in each category (fiction, nonfiction, or poetry) will be selected based on merit by the advisory board from all entries. Winners will be notified in mid-February.

Prizes

If you are selected as a winner in one of the three categories (fiction, nonfiction, or poetry), you will receive a $500 prize.

Limitations of Liability

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies and its affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees are not responsible or liable for any Entry or other communication which is lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, or any entry or other communication submitted which is not received due to any computer, online, technical malfunction, delays or human errors that occur in the processing, transmitting, or receiving of entries. If, for any reason, the Contest cannot be conducted as planned, including but not limited to infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies, University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest.

General Release

By entering the Contest, you release University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies, its affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and employees, and their successors and assigns (collectively the Released Parties), from any and all actions, obligations, costs, damages, losses, claims, liabilities and demands of whatever kind or nature now or hereafter against any one or more of the Released Parties, arising from, related to or in any way connected with participation in this Contest and receipt of any award from University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies.

Consent

By entering the Contest, you consent to the use of your name, likeness and image, address and/or prize information and/or Entry for promotional and other purposes without further payment. You also consent to being placed on the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies email list and give your express permission to be contacted by University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies and to receive promotion emails and invitations to participate in related surveys.

Choice of Law and Venue

By entering the Contest, you agree that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Continuing Studies in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of Wisconsin. By entering the Contest, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state, and local courts located in Madison, Wisconsin.
