Betty Coop
SABRINA LONGO is a mixed-media artist, makerspace assistant, researcher, and fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign. She is currently working towards a dual degree in Comparative & World Literature and Gender Studies. In her work, she likes to experiment with creating collages using dated magazines, both scanning and refining them within Adobe Illustrator to create portraits. She’s spent most of her career gaining familiarity with Procreate and Adobe Fresco programs as well. Her work often draws inspiration from her southern Italian heritage, like her most recent zine publication named Passaporto di Repubblica Italiana: Artisti Afroitaliani e Musulmani. She is also inspired by the strength of people she has interviewed for publications, such as Latinx drag queens and first-generation immigrants in the Midwest.
